An installation exploring decay and renewal as parallel expressions of time. Two split boulders slowly drift apart through weathering, root growth, and water currents, yielding to the forces acting upon them rather than resisting change. Once part of a single mass, one half of the split boulder ruptures from overtaking plant life while the other erodes over time, forming cavities where smaller growth can take hold.
Rather than framing time as purely destructive, the work explores transformation as a gradual, necessary process. As viewers move through the circular atrium, shifting perspectives alter the spatial relationship between the stones. At certain angles, polished interior faces reflect the viewer, positioning them within the work itself.
Originally conceived for a private residential atrium, the installation embraces change as something shaped by environment and time, revealing divergence as an alternative form of growth.
